Following a prompt for a class, Chase watched several horror films with his friend, Margaret. Movie nights became a way to cope with the pandemic, and we had a discussion on themes for the films Hausu (1977), The Haunting (1999), The Haunting of Hill House (2018), the novel, The Haunting of Hill House (1959), and even The Exorcist (1973)!

 

Episode #002 Queer Theory and Representation in Film & TV

After reading articles from B. Ruby Rich and Kelly Kessler, the topic of the Queer sub-genre came up in conversation with the Cine-licious duo. With the rise of New Queer Cinema in the early 1990s, LGBTQ+ representation was thrust into the spotlight - for better or worse. We pick apart three films: The Living End (1992) directed by Gregg Araki, Philadelphia (1993) directed by Jonathan Demme, and The Adventure of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) directed by Stephan Elliot.
